Cool As A Pepsi Cucumber
Pepsi, getting desperate to do something to catch up to Coke's sales in Japan, has introduced a new soda there — Pepsi Ice Cucumber. It's green, they say it's refreshing, and it doesn't really have any cucumber in it, only artificial cucumber flavoring. Yum! Pepsi hopes a drink that's "cool as a cucumber" will be refreshing in the summer heat. Not to mention bank account filling. Lord help everyone if it's popular or the next cooling drink they'll come out with will be Pepsi Cold As A Witch's Tit. Also artificially flavored, I hope.

I tried the Pepsi Ice Cucumber today and found it surprisingly refreshing - all things considered. A bubbly, cucumber-salad-with-Pepsi-dressing wouldn't be my first choice beverage under most circumstances, but I've had a number of things that were considerably worse. If the witch's-tit-Pepsi comes out, I'll probably try that too, but for now the Ice Cucumber hits the spot. And I even some some people riding the Tokyo metro with bottles of it in their bags, so it looks like Pepsi may make their June quotas.
